UCLA Asian American Studies Center Computer and Electronic Equipment Use Policies

Computers and Printers (Campbell Hall and Hersey Hall)

By reviewing and accepting this policy, user(s) have reviewed and accepted the AASC policies.

1. Computers and electronic equipment are provided as educational resources. Do not use these resources for purposes other than educational research, electronic communication (eMail), and academic related work.

2. By using the electronic resources provided, the user(s) agrees to the following policies:

3. Viruses, Trojans, and other factors which may compromise Computers

DO NOT:

  • store, download, or save any documents, files, software, etc. on the computers.
  • attempt to alter, install, or move any files or system related software on the computers.
  • rearrange or move the physical hardware and cables without notifying Jaya or Tam.

If you are using a floppy disk or removable media, please make sure that it is scanned for viruses before opening files on the computers.

4. Printing, Copying, and Faxing

  • Printing (Printer) is provided for educational research and academic related purposes only. All other printing must be done elsewhere.
  • Copying is NOT available. Do not attempt to print multiple copies as a solution for copying.
  • Faxing is NOT available.

5. Software

  • Software is limited to what is installed on the computers.
  • No additional software is available.
  • Do not attempt to install or download software.
  • If the user(s) requires specific/specialized academic software, these software can be found at various locations on campus. Refer to: http://www.computerlabs.ucla.edu/
  • Even if you think you are a computer expert, please do not attempt to troubleshoot a software problem, report it.

6. Hardware

  • Please do not abuse the electronic hardware.
  • No altering or moving of electronic hardware or its components.
  • Even if you think you are a computer expert, please do not attempt to troubleshoot a hardware problem, report it.

ALL EQUIPMENT MUST BE SHUT DOWN AT THE END OF THE DAY.

DO NOT INSTALL, DOWNLOAD, OR ATTEMPT TO ALTER THE EQUIPMENT (SOFTWARE OR HARDWARE).

IF ANY USER(S) IS FOUND VIOLATING POLICIES, THE USER(S) IS 100% LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES AND RIGHTS/ACCESS TO EQUIPMENT WILL BE REVIEWED AND MAY BE REVOKED.

ANY PROBLEMS MUST BE REPORTED TO JAYA OR TAM IMMEDIATELY.
