ASIAN AMERICAN STUDIES CENTER MAIN OFFICE POLICIES

1. Office hours are from 10-5pm Monday through Friday. Non-staff are not allowed in the main office after 5pm. Faculty, students, and staff can see Jaya after 10am.

2. All Office Equipment - Due to budget constraints all main office typewriters, computers, printers, fax machines (incoming and outgoing faxes), copy machine and telephones are for Center Management staff use only. Please do not ask for exceptions.

3. Microwave - Only Center staff will have microwave privileges. Please cover food before use, and microwave has to be left clean after each use.

4. Sink area - As in the past, CM will not be responsible for the kitchen by DEFAULT from now on!!! Dishes that are left in the sink unwashed will be thrown out. If a party is being thrown, the person organizing the party is in charge of the clean up of the sink area. Please comply with the policies so CM will not have to assign weekly kitchen duties as in the past.

5. Refrigerator - All belongings in the refrigerator need to be labeled. There have been food thefts in the past so use the refrigerator at your own risk. Please have the courtesy to throw away your old food!!!

6. Main Office Staff - are not responsible for items/belongings left in the Main Office.

Asian American Studies Center Graduate Lounge Policies
3221 Campbell Hall

1. Access - the graduate lounge (including equipment) is for use by the graduate students in the Asian American Studies Center’s MA program only.

2. Keys - Keys can be issued to AASC graduate students with a $10 cash deposit. The $10 cash will be returned when the key is returned. Please see Jaya for Grad Lounge keys and T.A.’s see Irene for 1215 Hershey keys.

3. Telephones:

  • The telephone is for campus calls only.
  • There are public phones downstairs on the first floor and outside of Campbell hall for local and long distance calls.
  • Please do not ask the front office staff if you can use their phones.
  • The main office staff does not take personal messages for students unless the phone call is related to a class you are a Teaching Assistant for or if it is an emergency.
  • Please distribute graduate lounge phone number as a point of contact (i.e. business cards, research projects, etc…)

4. Equipment:

  • The Center Management staff maintains all equipment.
  • If there are any equipment problems, please fill out an Equipment Repair Request and forward it to Jaya or Tam.

5. Printing:

  • Printing is allowed in the graduate lounge only. All other printers at the center are off limits to non-staff.

6. Computers:

  • E-mail - Due to limited hard drive disk space, users will use Telnet rather than Eudora to check e-mail.
  • No additional software programs are to be installed on the computers. Requests for additional software programs can be made in writing to Center Management.
  • No files are to be saved to the computer hard disks. All personal files should be saved on personal disks.
  • For security reasons, access to the Center’s network is prohibited.
  • Make sure that the computers are turned off and covered after use.

7. Please turn off the lights and lock the door behind you. Unfortunately, equipment and supplies have been stolen from the Graduate Lounge in the past.

8. Center will provide $500 yearly cost for computer cartridges, xerox paper, tapes and staplers.

Please take care of YOUR lounge!

Hershey Hall Room and Equipment Usage Policy

Room Policies:

  • Please note that you will be sharing the room with others.
  • Rooms are to be kept clean and neat.
  • Equipment is strictly in place to assist in the academic development and work of the authorized users.
  • Please do not store or bring in any additional equipment, furniture, or accessories without authorized permission.
  • Computers and the Printer are there strictly to assist in academic development and work.

DO NOT:

  • install, add, delete, modify, and/or abuse software or hardware.
  • download, store, and/or install software or hardware.
  • print or use internet access for reasons other than academic.
  • Phones are to be used for on campus calls only. No outside calls are allowed.

Any damage to equipment, furniture, and/or accessories will result in termination of access privileges. In addition, any damage and costs will be the sole responsibility of the user.
