News: Ignite NC Summer Research Fellowship

Since 2013, Ignite has been engaged in dynamic campaigns and organizing efforts centered around the issues that concern their communities. Some of these efforts have included campaigns for a livable wage, Black Lives Matter, UNC Board of Governors and administration accountability, HB2, and election protection.

Each semester, their Organizing Fellows, Training Fellows, and Communications Fellows develop political education events, campaigns, and summits, with the goal of increasing knowledge, skill, and understanding of complex systems we seek to interrogate, build upon, exercise people power, interrupt, and dismantle.

Ignite is now accepting applications for the Ignite NC Summer Research Fellowship. They are seeking individuals for an Internal and an External Research Fellowship focused on:  


  • Research legislation, policies, directives, related to the topic areas
  • Synthesize information into a format that is digestible (infographics, videos, flyers, memes, zines)
  • Develop an impact report on the State of NC that shows the effect of regressive initiatives throughout the state.  


  • Research Ignite NC alumni, conduct qualitative research methods, and report the impact of Ignite NC
  • Collect data from Ignite NC’s internal IPEP surveys
  • Synthesize information into a format that is digestible (infographics, videos, flyers, memes, zines)  

Fellowship Requirements

  • Available to work 10 hrs/week, 8 weeks, June 20th-Aug 20th
  • Full Attendance of day long Fellowship Training
  • Attend at least one conference/summit/training to build research skills and development
  • Possess an anti-racist, pro-self determination lense of this work
  • Be able to travel and work some weekends and evenings
  • Must be in North Carolina
  • Must be 18-30 years of age
